ProView – Vasque Torre AT GTX Review

The Vasque Torre AT GTX boot is a modern take on the classic older hiking boot style. I have found myself constantly reaching for this pair of hikers rather than my typical trail runner as the support and comfort is outstanding. These boots have gotten me through each type of weather and trail I have come across with ease. The weather in Colorado has been extra temperamental lately, and having a taller boot to withstand it all was a saving grace. The GORETEX provides the extra layer of water resistance so I felt extra confident on the trail for anything I came across!

Comfort

I have a background working in footwear, so I knew to break these boots in for a while before taking them on the trail. After this initial break-in period which was not nearly as bad as expected, these boots quickly became my go to hiking boots! I found the height of the boot along with the padding on the inside provided a great amount of stability and comfort I look for in a boot such as this.

Traction

These boots use the classic industry staple Vibram rubber along with the Megagrip compound to make for a super grippy pair of boots! I spent some time on rockier sections of trail to test out the grippiness of the rubber and was very happy with the results. I felt I had great traction on the larger rocks, and the ankle support helped significantly with the smaller rockier sections. I walked through some wet, rocky areas and was able to walk right through confidently without a slip! I was impressed with the traction and how quickly the shoe itself dried after walking through a small stream.

What sets these boots apart?

These boots provide premium features such as a Gore-Tex liner, Vibram outsole, and a Nubuck leather upper for a very reasonable price point. They were a breeze to break in and in many ways act as a trimmed down version of a classic Mountaineering boot. This boot has quickly become one of my favorite boots for the trails. Being so lightweight, and waterproof this boot makes it hard to beat. The traditional hiking boots have a rap for being huge, clunky and heavy, and these are the complete opposite. These boots are comfortable, lightweight, and provide all of the elements I look for in a pair of outdoor boots.

The Final Word

All in all, if you prioritize a sturdy and protective build, the Breeze AT accomplishes just that at a great price point. Overall, you get premium touches typically found on more expensive offerings, including the Vibram Megagrip rubber, Gore-Tex waterproofing, and excellent stability and support. Further, the upper has a high-end look and feel with a mix of nubuck leather and high-quality mesh. These boots were a breeze to break in and quickly turned into my go to pair to grab for any type of hike I am going on! I am looking forward to trying them out in a pair of snowshoes for the upcoming Winter season!
