ProView – Jade Yoga Level One Mat
The Jade Yoga Level One is an ideal mat for the studio AND works great in the outdoors! While testing the Level One, I decided to take it out in the middle of winter (as well as use it in my studio classes) — and it’s become my go-to mat. Although it’s a little too bulky for backpacking, I found it to be the perfect travel mat for car camping, etc.

Durability
After a day of snowboarding in the Summit Lake area (about 75 miles south of Anchorage), we stopped in Girdwood, AK, for post-tour brews. Naturally, I had to test out my Level One while alleviating the day’s tensions. What I was most impressed about was the mat’s durability in the snow/icy conditions. After seeing just how well it stood up to the elements, I took it out a few more times to embrace Alaska’s short, cold days (-8 F to be exact).
Behind me is the Chugach ‘front range’ in Anchorage, where I lead backcountry yoga hikes and backpacking yoga retreats during summer months.
Features
The product description mentions how the bottom of the mat offers more grip, and I believe this is what sets the Level One apart from other yoga mats. Its unique bottom construction helps the mat stay in place on the studio floor so when jumping through or back I can count on my hands and mat to stay grounded.
The top construction has enough grip to keep your hands in place during those sweaty flows and is cushioned enough for a surprising amount of comfort (even on the ice!)
Improvements
Whether you’re standing tall in Tree pose or jumping from Down Dog to Handstand, the Level One yoga mat by Jade Yoga offers stability and comfort. It exceeded my expectations with its durability. If there were any area of improvement I could envision, it would be to make this mat even lighter (without sacrificing comfort) so I could take it everywhere!
Final Word
All in all, I’d give the Level One by Jade a solid 5 star rating. This is the perfect mat for beginning and seasoned yogis alike!
