ProView – Gregory Rhune 20 Review
This bag is the perfect commuter bag! The Gregory Rhune 20L is the perfect size backpack for an everyday work bag or an overnight trip. It’s small enough that you can carry it around and it’s also compatible with most airlines’ carry-on size restrictions. The inside has a bunch of organizational pockets, with a slot for a laptop, tablet, and a space for pens and chargers — it has a spot for it all. Having designated pockets helps so much with a work bag, and keeping organized and maximizing space. Due to these great interior pockets, I can also fit a rain jacket and my lunch inside no problem. I am always looking for small, comfortable, and functional bags — and this one has exceeded my expectations.

Fit/Comfort
I am a smaller, more petite woman (5 ft 4 inches) and I have found the bag itself is very comfortable to wear. The straps are contoured and very well cushioned. I found the straps to be a good width as well, and fit my shoulders very comfortably. I find normal backpack straps are too stiff and wide and do not fit my shoulders comfortably. The bag width is no larger than the size of a laptop, which is again super nice for a smaller person, or someone that is looking for a small everyday commuter bag.
I brought this bag along to a climbing crag to support my fellow coworkers on a guided climb field trip and I had the perfect amount of space for everything I needed. We hiked into a canyon for 25 minutes and I was very comfortable walking with the bag for more of an extended amount of time. I brought a water bottle, a fleece layer, a raincoat and a bunch of snacks and still had space for more things if needed.
Features/Performance
This bag has so many great spaces to secure small items. There is one pocket in particular on the outside of the bag that also has a key ring inside. In addition to holding a set of keys, the pocket could easily hold some snacks, or smaller items as well. This pocket is not quite big enough to fit an extra layer. This pocket has a nice long zipper which makes it nice to sling the bag around and open while still moving if needed.
This bag also includes a mesh bottle holder pocket on the outside. These bottle holders are often a feature I skip over personally, as I am one of those people that carries a giant Hydro Flask bottle. I will opt to put my bottle inside the main pocket rather than the designated bottle pocket as it’s a bit of an awkward fit. I would rather my bottle be secured in the bag and not be at risk of falling out. The mesh on the pocket itself comes up quite high, so I’m sure it would work great for a skinnier bottle. I would say a bottle over 24 ounces might be too large for this pocket.
The outside front pocket has been incredibly useful for me as well. Inside of this pocket there are two mesh pockets. This is my preferred place to store my wallet and headphones so they don’t get lost amongst the endless snacks and layers. This is also a great pocket for an extra layer that is super accessible. This would be a great spot for a wallet, or train/bus pass to be easily accessible on the move.
This bag does meet carry on requirements, and would be a great travel bag. The material itself is durable and feels made to last. I look forward to using this bag more as I travel. I am also very happy to see this bag is modern and sleek, and not covered in straps that get caught everywhere.
Friendliness to the Earth
The backpack is made from tough polyester and nylon, both of which are recycled and reduces the pack’s carbon footprint by 57%.
The Final Word
If you need a new commuter bag, work bag, or small travel bag, this is the perfect bag for you! This bag has been absolutely everything I needed and more in an everyday pack. One of my favorite features has become the tiny pocket on one of the straps that is just large enough to fit a lip balm. I always lose my chapstick in the depths of my bag, and this prevents the constant search for it! As a person who enjoys when things have their own space so they don’t get lost, this has become the best bag for me. I look forward to using this bag for a long time to come.
