ProView – Swany Calore Mitt Review
Cold hands can ruin an otherwise perfect ski day. Whether you are on a windy chairlift, digging snow pits, or lapping groomers, the right mitts make a huge difference. The Swany Calore Mitt is designed for skiers who want serious warmth without sacrificing durability or comfort. Built with a premium leather shell, a waterproof breathable membrane, and Swany’s Triplex Insulation system, the Carlore aims to keep hands warm, dry, and protected in harsh mountain conditions. I attempted to put these mittens to the test regardless of the interesting conditions.

Takes a while for the inside to dry
I spent about a month skiing in the Swany Calore Mitt, testing them during everything from cold storm days to unexpectedly warm spring laps. One thing was immediately clear: these mittens are incredibly warm. Even during blizzard-like conditions, my hands stayed comfortable while riding lifts and skiing long runs.
What surprised me most, though, was how versatile they were. Many heavily insulated mitts become uncomfortable once temperatures warm up, but the Calore mitts remained surprisingly tolerable on milder days as well. While they are definitely designed with cold conditions in mind, they never felt overly bulky or sweaty during moderate temperatures. After multiple ski days, they quickly became the mittens I reached for when I wanted reliable warmth without constantly thinking about my hands.

Fit & Comfort
The Calore Mitt has a comfortable, slightly relaxed fit that allows your fingers to move naturally inside the mitten without feeling cramped. The interior lining is soft and warm, and the insulation is distributed evenly, so there are no cold spots. The gauntlet-style cuff fits easily over jacket sleeves and helps seal out snow and wind. Overall, the mitt feels secure but not restrictive, which is ideal for long days on the mountain.
Look & Style
Swany kept the design clean and classic. The leather exterior gives the mittens a premium look while also providing durability for skiing. The styling is fairly understated, which makes them versatile and easy to pair with different ski kits. If you prefer gear that looks technical but not overly flashy, these mittens strike a nice balance.

Features
The Calore Mitt includes several practical features that improve performance in real ski conditions. The waterproof and breathable membrane helps keep hands dry during stormy skiing or when the snow is wet. Swany’s Triplex insulation system provides significant warmth without creating excessive bulk. The leather shell adds durability while also helping block wind. The gauntlet cuff helps seal out snow when skiing powder or during storm days. I also really like the wrist straps which is not a feature I have had since I was a child, but I am honestly super into it.
Weight & Packability
These mittens are clearly built for warmth, but they are honestly pretty light and really packable! These mittens are quickly becoming the warm mittens I throw in my guiding pack everyday!
Function & Performance
In terms of performance, warmth is where these mittens really shine. They performed exceptionally well in cold and windy conditions, especially while riding chairlifts or skiing during storms. I tested them in all sorts of weather conditions and they consistently kept my hands warm and dry. I also found the dexterity within this mitten to be great, especially for how warm the mit is!

Durability & Construction
The leather exterior gives these mittens a solid, durable feel. After multiple ski days with many knuck drags in the snow, the leather held up well with really no signs of wear. I usually will tear mittens open pretty fast, especially in the resort, so I was super stoked with how these mittens held up!
What sets the product apart?
What makes the Swany Calore Mitt stand out is the balance between serious warmth and everyday usability. Many extremely warm mittens feel bulky or overly specialized, but these manage to provide strong insulation while still feeling comfortable and functional for regular ski days.
Who is the product for?
The Swany Calore Mitt is best suited for skiers who prioritize warmth and protection in colder conditions. It’s a great option for in and out of resort skiing, storm days, or anyone who tends to get cold hands. Ski instructors, coaches, or anyone spending long periods outside in winter weather would especially benefit from the extra insulation.
Friendliness to the Earth
While the Swany Calore Mitt itself is primarily built with performance materials like leather and synthetic insulation, the brand has taken some steps toward more environmentally conscious product development across its lineup. Swany offers several gloves that incorporate recycled polyester, recycled wool, and natural fibers such as merino wool as part of their effort to reduce environmental impact.

The Final Word
The Swany Calore Mitt is a warm, durable mitten designed for skiers who prioritize comfort and protection in cold mountain conditions. After a month of testing in a variety of weather, these mittens consistently kept my hands warm, even during storm days and long chairlift rides, while still remaining comfortable enough for milder temperatures. The leather construction feels high quality and built to last, and the insulation provides dependable warmth without feeling bulky. For skiers looking for a reliable mitten for skiing, the Swany Calore Mitt is a strong and dependable choice.
