Diamondback Recoil 29
Via the Diamondback Blog
It’s the summertime and everywhere you look, people are riding their mountain bikes on the road, posting stories about their recent trail adventures on Facebook and Instagramming National Geographic-worthy pictures of their steads. Looking to join these smiling, two wheel-riding folks in the mountain bike lifestyle? For those getting out for the first time, Diamondback’s Recoil 29er line offers a simple and elegant tool that will get the job done.
Offered in three models, the Recoil line offers a solid full-suspension platform for riders just getting into aggressive trail riding and at three different price points to match riders’ level of performance and budget. All three bikes use a machine-formed top tube and a butted and formed down tube—the same found on the Sortie series—and a sealed cartridge bearing pivot built around an optimized single pivot design. Since the rear triangle directly attaches to the rear shock, the shock has a more linear spring rate and offers good small bump compliance. Four inches of front and rear travel will smooth the roughest terrain and the larger 29er wheels offer added stability and a smoother ride than those bikes with smaller wheels.
Starting at the top of the line, the Recoil Pro 29er sports a RockShox Monarch R air rear shock and the RockShox Recon Silver TK 29 front fork to compliment. The fork features rebound dampening adjustments, a turnkey lockout, and a 15mm thru axle for improved torsional rigidity. The lockout allows the rider to stiffen up the fork to improve efficiency when pedaling over smooth and paved surfaces. A combination of Shimano’s Deore SGS rear derailleur and Alivio front derailleur offers a reliable combination of 27 gears. The Hayes HMX-5 mechanical disc brakes with six-inch rotors allow all of the braking power that you’ll need and the 32h Diamondback SL-7 M-Series Doublewall wheelset will provide a tough and stable platform for everything you can throw at it.
The middle-tiered Recoil Comp 29er uses the same RockShox Monarch R air rear shock and is paired with a SR Suntour XCR RL fork which has 100mm of travel, rebound dampening adjust and a remote lock out. The drivetrain is composed of Shimano’s eight-speed Alivio rear derailleur and a Altus front for a total of 24 gears. The Recoil Comp also uses the powerful Hayes HMX-5 mechanical disc brakes and SL-7 M-Series wheels used by the Recoil Pro 29er.
And finally, those looking for the best value, the Recoil 29er will be your ticket. A Kindshock Coil with an oil damping rear shock and a SR Suntour XCT 100mm fork with external preload adjust will keep you rolling smoothly. Shimano’s Altus front and Acera rear derailleurs give you range of 24 gears to choose from, plus the Tektro IO Plus mechanical disc brakes with six-inch rotors can will bring you to a quick halt.
There is no better time than now to start, so grab your Recoil 29er and start making memories (or at least Instagramming them).
