ProView – GoLite Women’s RePlay 1/2 Zip
Do you want a fashionable, light-weight, comfortable base layer from an eco-friendly sustainable brand? Okay, I’ve got you. The GoLite Replay ½ Zip single handedly puts my entire collection of pullovers to shame. It has been a pleasure testing the Replay; if you live in the Pacific Northwest and are relatively active there is no excuse why you should not have one. Unfortunately I did not get photographic evidence on a number of the outings I took the Replay on but trust me when I say this – the Replay is one of the most versatile pieces of outdoor gear in my closet (and I have a BIG closet). The photos you see highlight my adventures hiking and backpacking while wearing the Replay. What you don’t see (due to my lack of photos) is the Replay also kept me comfortable on a 70 mile bike ride, several jogs around Seattle’s Greenlake neighborhood, and paddle boarding on Lake Roesiger.

Comfort
I wore the Replay on a moody Fourth of July backpacking trip in the North Cascades. With its quick-drying, antimicrobial/anti-odor material it was the perfect base layer for a cloudy but muggy July day in the PNW. The UPF 50 also came in handy when the sun decided to peak out from time to time. Not only is the Replay lightweight and breathable but it is also super thin, allowing for easy layering when necessary. It started to cool down and eventually started raining so I kept the Replay on and actually ended up sleeping in it. In the past when I’ve done that with other similar products I wake up in the middle of the night in a sweat and have to rip off all my layers. I was pleasantly surprised that I slept through the night with the Replay on and woke up comfortable and sweat-free the next morning.
Versitility
I also took the Replay on a recent day hike while on vacation in Sun Valley, Idaho. It gets very hot there in the summer, but being at 5,000 ft + the mornings can still be brisk. The Replay was the perfect option to start out our hike. I took it off when things started to heat up but actually ended up putting it back on when the wind picked up at the lake. With its thin light-weight appearance I was pleasantly surprised how much insulation the Replay provides. And since it is moisture wicking, even though I sweat a bit hiking up, by the time I put it back on for the hike down, it was nice and dry. By the end of our hike both my mom and my girlfriend were asking where I got the Replay and how they could get their hands on one!
Final Word
The Replay definitely surprised me with its versatility and overall comfort. And did I mention that the majority of GoLite’s products, including the Replay, are developed from environmentally preferred, recycled and low energy production materials and processes? How many items of clothing can you pick out of your closet and say that they prevented seven plastic bottles from ending up in a landfill? Well before I owned the Replay, my answer to that question was zero. golite-womens-replay-halfzip-review-dirtbagdreams.comYour tent-mate on your next backpacking trip will thank you because you won’t stink up the tent with you smelly/sweaty clothes.
