ProView – Honey Stinger Cracker N’ Nut Butter Snack Bars
I love the outdoors as much as the next dirtbag, but why are we really out in the nether regions of the backcountry purposefully abusing our bodies? Is the scenery wonderful? Yes! Is the company fantastic? Usually. But I think if we are all honest with ourselves and with each other we will realize we are just in it for the food. I mean, how many multi-hour conversations have you had with your tent mate/climbing partner/running companion that was just about snacks? And I’m here to tell you that although most Honey Stinger products are worth many a fireside chat, the Peanut Butter Milk Chocolate Organic Crack Bar may not be.

Summary
This bar was very mediocre. It tasted fine and was made of great ingredients, but it didn’t pack well and didn’t really work well as a snack except at my desk in my office.
Overall
3.2Pros
- The taste is good
- All organic options
- Honey Stinger is an awesome company
Cons
- Messy
- Can’t be packed anywhere and remain in one piece
- It’s just crackers with peanut butter and chocolate
First things first, Honey Stinger Peanut Butter Milk Chocolate Organic Cracker Bar is a literal and figurative mouthful. I’ve been training for an upcoming ultramarathon and was excited to test out the latest and greatest from Honey Stinger. I’ve always liked their product’s taste, portability, and simplicity. So I was confused when this new creation of theirs left me feeling like something was missing.
It’s really quite a simple snack. So simple in fact, you’ve probably made this at your house before. It’s just a bit of peanut butter smooshed betwixt two crackers covered in chocolate.
Taste
The taste isn’t bad; it’s actually quite nice, but again it’s just peanut butter crackers with a bit of chocolate.
Weight/Packability
This is a small and light package that packs in 220 calories which is nice. While its size and weight make it packable the meltiness of the chocolate and the crumbliness of the crackers really offset the positives in this category.
Function/Performance
You cannot eat this bar without making a mess. The chocolate will melt on your fingers and the crackers will crumble the whole time you are eating it. I was really hoping for a training snack that I could toss in a pack or vest and take out ten miles later for a bite. But after trying that with this bar the completely melted chocolate was the only thing holding the crushed crackers together leaving me with a messy snack that would be best eaten with a spoon.
The Company
Honey Stinger is based out of Colorado and is doing awesome work with people and organizations in the outdoor industry to support and promote positive values and sustainable practices.
Room for Improvement
My biggest problem with this bar isn’t actually a big problem at all, it’s actually just a bunch of little problems. The taste is pretty good, it’s a messy and fragile snack, and it doesn’t really fit in a clear category. It’s not a meal replacement, it’s not an energy gel, and it’s too fragile to be a go-to trail snack. The Organic Cracker Bar belongs on the island of misfit snacks.
Final Word
If you wanted a snack for you or your kids that was organic, delicious, semi-nutritious, and would be kept on a shelf in a climate-controlled environment, then this would be a fine snack. I’ve eaten through the entire box that I left sitting on my desk in my office and have no regrets. But that type of snack is not the snack I was looking for. I really wanted something with that magical honey stinger how-did-they-make-this-taste-so-good effect. Instead, these organic cracker bars have more of the made-at-home-taste and the durability and portability are about the same.
So would I buy these Honey Stinger Organic Cracker Bars again? No, but will I continue to use many of Honey Stinger’s other products? Absolutely.
