Summary

It’s a great bag for travel and outside adventures. I used it for both hunting travels and hikes with my pups. I was mostly impressed with how much you could fit in the bag and still keep everything protected.

Overall
5

Pros

  • Easy to seal in 3 spots
  • You can fit surprisingly a lot of items in the pack
  • I used to for both travel and outside

Cons

  • More pockets would be nice

I was able to try out the Yukon Outfitter Castor Waterproof Backpack for a couple weeks and was really pleased with the durability/quality of the product. The backpack withheld in temperatures below zero, snow, rain, and high winds. I had no issues with the pack and everything inside stayed dry the entire time. It was also really easy to clean off as well, I had thrown it in the back of a truck on a hunting trip (knowing it would be ideal for the weather) and the material withheld really well. The pack got a little muddy, but wiping it off and or dunking it in the river made it really easy to clean. I am really excited to use it more (especially on the river this coming summer). Not to mention it looks really cool. I had a few people stop me and ask what Yukon Outfitter was because they said “you don’t see much vintage camo anymore, where did you get that?”

Performance

The pack was really easy to wear. The shoulder pads make it comfortable to wear for long periods of time, it would be nice to have a hard back on the pack (on the inside) especially if you were transporting cans of “soda” or items that might bulge into your back. Overall for a dry bag, it was really nice to be able to put it on your back and not carry it like a duffel. I have found that most dry bags can be a bit awkward to carry especially if they need to go up a mountain. My favorite feature on the product is the material it’s made out of and the color pattern. You can tell when you feel it that you know it’s going to hold up for some rowdy times plus who doesn’t love a good vintage camo?

What sets this product apart?

The material and the buckles, You’re able to lock the backpack down as a drybag in 3 sections, but you can also use it as a backpack and fold down as needed. Its multi-use functions made it really easy to bring along on my adventures this fall. The shell of the pack makes it durable for any type of environment.

Who is this product for?

Anyone and everyone. Highly recommended on the river, fishing, traveling, and adventuring within all types of environments. The waterproof aspect really makes it keen to have in all types of weather.

The Final Word

Overall, I love this backpack. It will get a lot of use in the spring/summer months floating and fishing. I can’t wait to use it out on the river and the lake.
