Construction & Durability
The first thing that stands out about the Adamsbuilt Green River Waist-Wader is its impressive construction. The wader is made from a high-quality, abrasion-resistant “Pore-Tech” fabric that provides both durability and flexibility. The Pore-Tech fabric is a tough, multi-layered blend that strikes a balance between toughness and lightness, offering decent protection against punctures while allowing for freedom of movement. This is particularly important when you’re navigating rocky stream beds or dense vegetation, where rough terrain can easily damage lighter, thinner waders.

The Green River Waist-Wader is reinforced in key areas, including the knees and seat, which are often the first spots to wear out in other waders. These areas are equipped with thicker material designed to handle the abrasion that comes with kneeling and walking through thick brush. This allows the relatively lightweight waders to be more durable than other, lighter competitors.
Adamsbuilt uses a fabric in these waders which they call Pore-Tech. This fabric aims to emulate the performance of Gore-Tex Pro used by other waders with a significantly higher price. By using a proprietary waterproof breathable membrane, Adamsbuilt brings the cost of the waders down without any noticeable loss of durability, breathability, or waterproofing that I could detect. These waders proved to be 100% waterproof for me, which is definitely what you want from a wader! The seams are double-stitched and seam-taped, which ensures waterproof performance. The combination of sturdy materials and great seam construction ensures that these waders perform well and should remain waterproof for years.
Fit & Comfort
I found the Green River Waist Waders to be quite comfortable and convenient. The waist-high design strikes a good balance between mobility and protection, offering more freedom of movement than traditional chest waders. If you are only going to own one pair of fishing waders, I would suggest chest waders, but if you already have chest waders, then wading pants like these can make a great addition for rivers where you won’t be wading as deep.

The fit is adjustable via an elastic belt and Velcro straps. I am 5’11” 155lbs and wear size Medium. I could have gone with a small, but I don’t like waders to be too tight and thus cold. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and I found the neoprene booties to be plenty big but not cumbersome. Someone should be able to fit up to size 11 feet into the booties affixed to the size medium waders without any constriction.
Performance & Functionality
On the water, the Green River Waist Wader proved to be reliable for shallow wading. The waist-high design is particularly suitable for fishing in shallow to medium-depth waters, where full chest waders might be excessive or cumbersome. These waders allow you to move quickly and easily in and out of the water, making them ideal for anglers who need to cover a lot of ground while still maintaining the ability to wade comfortably.
For anglers and adventurers who prefer to hike to areas, the Green River Waist Wader offers great portability. The waist-high style is easier to pack than full-body waders and takes up less space, making it a good choice for those who need to conserve room in their pack. I am planning to use these waders on a river based caribou hunt in Alaska next fall, wading pants are definitely for more than just fishing! The quick on-and-off design inherent to wading pants makes these waders easy to slip in and out of, especially when you’re transitioning from walking to wading in the water.

Despite the breathable fabric, these waders are still capable of keeping you warm in cooler conditions, though they might not offer as much insulation as a full-body set of chest waders, so additional layers might be required in colder weather.
The Final Word
The Adamsbuilt Green River Waist Wader offers an outstanding combination of performance, comfort, and durability at a price that makes it accessible to a wide range of users. Its thoughtful construction, high-quality materials, and ease of use make it an excellent choice for fly fishermen, especially those who fish in shallow to mid-depth waters. If you’re an angler or adventurer who values flexibility, ease of movement, and durability, the Adamsbuilt Green River Waist Wader should be high on your list. While they may not be suitable for every fishing scenario, for many types of freshwater fishing, they provide everything you need in a wader—and more.
