Overall
4.9Pros
- Lightweight
- Stable
- Thoughtful
Cons
- Not as packable as other lightweight options
As almost everyone knows, the snow conditions in Colorado this winter were a bit all over the place. I tested these crampons on ski mountaineering objectives in a mix of spring skiing conditions and fresh snow. They walked on rocks and grass, fresh powder, and frozen snow.

Features
These crampons are loaded with features! The 12-point configuration gives it a secure and aggressive feel while the 7075 aluminum construction keeps the weight very low and is an upgrade from previous models. I just want to emphasize how stable these features make you feel! The Boot Adapt system is designed to better match modern boots and improve precision while edging. The anti-balling plates keep you safe from snow build up which is super valuable for Colorado spring objectives.
Weight/Packability
These crampons shine in the weight department. At 17oz, these crampons out-do other crampon models with similar stability. This made it really easy to decide to just throw them in my pack regardless of being sure if I would need them or not. As far as packability, they were fine and never too difficult to pack. However, I have used other crampon models that are more compact. This is not a deal breaker and I would still choose to reach for these over other models because of their features.

Function/Performance
This crampon shines on Colorado-style spring objectives where your goal is to move fast through a longer approach. The 12 point layout provided great stability on snow up couloirs and steep faces. I often did not know what conditions my routes would hold this spring and these crampons gave me great peace of mind regardless of what I was stepping into.
Durability/Construction
These crampons are very durable for being aluminum. With the variable conditions I encountered this spring, I was stepping on rock, grass, ice, and all sorts of snow conditions. They are very durable for what they are. If you were to be consistently using these on rock or front-pointing hard ice, I believe they would wear quickly. If using them for what they are designed for they will hold up well.

What sets the product apart?
This product stands out because it rides the line of being a traditional mountaineering crampon and a minimal ski mountaineering crampon. It does not compromise stability for being lightweight. And it does it really well!
Who is the product for?
This product is for users who want to feel secure on any climb while still being lightweight. It is great for any ski mountaineer, but especially for people who are not quite ready to sacrifice stability for the lightest pack possible. This product will shine for most objectives that don’t involve extreme vertical ice conditions.

The Final Word
This is a perfect lightweight mountaineering crampon built for climbers and skiers alike who desire the stability of a traditional crampon without the weight of steel.
