ProView – Pachamama Goji Cacao Tincture, Black Pepper Turmeric Tincture, and Athletic Rub
Unless you have been living completely shut off from the world, you have heard of CBD products and the many claims of their endless uses. CBD is everywhere, solving every problem. Even corporate giants like Bed Bath and Beyond make a watered-down “tincture” just to get in on the action. It’s a hot item, but you may have questions. Do CBD products actually work? Can I give them to my neurotic dog? Is CBD even legal? I got the opportunity to test some high-quality CBD products from Pachamama. Two tinctures and an athletic rub for sore muscles. Here are my experiences:
Pachamama Goji Cacao Tincture, Black Pepper Turmeric Tincture, and Athletic Rub
Product Description: Detox with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that work in synergy for maximum benefits. Rich in micronutrients, turmeric can be a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Black pepper contains the world’s only known bio-enhancer, piperine, which helps the body to better absorb turmeric, increasing its potential health benefits.

Over 18% of Americans suffer from some form of anxiety. I am one of those 40 million. For half the year, I am a full time, six-day-a-week, Rock Climbing Guide. I can easily recall my first trip, all those years ago. I couldn’t sleep, my mind was racing, my gut was churning. Did I have the confidence to run a successful trip? Was I capable of being in charge of a strangers’ safety and wellbeing? I did not think that I did, and it tore me up inside.
For the other half of the year, I live and travel in a custom built, dirtbag RV. Living on the road has many benefits but can come at a steep price. For any of you fellow vehicle dwellers, you can understand how stressful it can be to have your house move. As I can attest many times over, having your RV in a mechanic’s shop sucks. You have to stay at a hotel, order out for food, walk or uber places, and generally spend a lot of money and feel about as lost as your car parts are in the mail. The most recent snafu was a broken brake line, which ultimately resulted in $1,200 spent over four days stuck in a small town. Having those times rattling around in the back of your mind, it adds a certain edge to driving on roads better suited for 4WD jeeps. But you can’t let worn-out dirt roads keep you from the great outdoors. So what’s an overthinker supposed to do?
I am the type of person to avoid taking any kind of pills, even ibuprofen. I very much did not want to be Xanax dependent for the rest of my life. Thankfully, at the start of my guiding career, I fought through the doubt and continued to grow as a guide. But even still today, sometimes I catch myself worrying. Maybe this will be the client I can’t handle; for whatever insane scenario my brain plays for me the night before. Or maybe this will be the rock crawl that torques my RV wrong and snaps something. For those days, I reach for Pachamama’s Black Pepper Turmeric or Goji Cacao tincture. If I know I’ve got a bad road or a hard climb ahead of me, I take some tincture at least an hour before to help my brain calm down. I’ve noticed again and again a marked difference in my mental state on stressful days that I take it versus days that I forget to. I’m able to remain calmer while zeroing in my focus to tackle the situation.
As I said in the beginning, CBD is everywhere. While I’m thankful society continues to collectively relax about what was formally known as a jail-able drug, there are only a few CBD companies out there unwaveringly committed to quality and purity. Enter Pachamama. The first CBD company to receive the “Clean Label Project Purity Award”. This means you will only find the advertised high-grade ingredients — no hidden heavy metals, pesticides, or plasticizers. They also use only hot air to extract all the good parts of the hemp plant. No chemicals, no solvents, just air. All their hemp comes from farms in Colorado, where their shop is located. So, you can feel good about the small carbon footprint of their products. Their tinctures contain 0.3% of THC or less (You can look up your batches exact numbers on their website). Which makes their products legal in all 50 states. There are some small pockets of America still trying to fight the legality, but for the most part, you should feel safe getting it shipped to your house. Pachamama’s tinctures are pet friendly as well!
Spending the last few months climbing at Indian Creek, I was immensely glad to have the tinctures to help calm my mind, but I was almost more thankful to be testing their athletic rub as well. There might not be a more physically demanding climbing destination in the states. Long, uphill trudges carrying the most gear you ever have, to climb some of the longest single pitches you ever have. You find yourself doing the same move over and over which will slowly break down that right bicep. It became a ritual with my climbing partner and I that when we got ‘home’ to the RV, we would take a wet wipe bath, eat some chips, then go ham with the athletic rub. If we had a particularly sore spot, we would reapply before bed, as well. We both felt relief and only have used about a ¼ of the tub so far. I was impressed with the consistency of the rub. We lived in 50 to 80 degree days over the last few months; the rub never got too hard to spread nor did it liquefy in the heat. It smells nice, too!
