ProView – adidas Outdoor Terrex Agravic Boa
I put the Terrex Agravic BOA from Adidas to the test over hundreds of rugged alpine miles in the high desert of Central Oregon. Throughout my training for the Siskiyou Out and Back 100k, I logged miles in the freezing snow and scorching-hot volcanic rock.

Features
The Terrex Agravic BOA from Adidas is a trail shoe that’s built for fast runs in alpine environments which is exactly what my training called for! My favorite part of the shoe is the responsive midsole that allowed me to quickly traverse the sharp rocky terrain of the Cascade Mountain range where I live and train. The fact that you’ll never have to stop mid-run to retie your shoelaces is what ultimately made this my go-to ultra training shoe. With BOA snowboard technology as the lacing system you just crank it down head into the mountains for a full day of fun. No shoelaces required! The majority of my training in the shoe was back to back multi-hour long runs in the mountain, mid-week lunch runs on dusty mountain bike trails and plenty of hill repeats up my local ski volcano, Mt. Bachelor.
The sock-like upper of the shoe was comfortable and offered easy on and off transitions during training. I prefer the lightweight construction of the shoe that allowed me to move seamlessly and quickly during tough technical trail workouts. The most notable feature was by far the BOA lacing system. The lacing system, inspired by snowboard boots is easy to adjust and super durable. While I found zero loosening throughout my 6-8 hour training runs I do wish that the midfoot section of lacing could be tightened without also tightening the top. I have a narrow foot and found myself wanting to adjust just the lower section of the laces and keep the top portion looser which I wasn’t able to do with the current lacing system. Overall, it is a reliable lacing system that I wish I had tried sooner!
The Final Word
I can’t recommend the Terrex Agravic BOA from Adidas enough. If you are in search of a shoe that can withstand the toughest alpine terrain for hours, while still keeping you light on your feet than this is the shoe for you. You’ll never have to worry about bending over mid-run to retie your shoe for the millionth time. Just crank it down and hit the trails!
