ProView – Astral Loyak All Weather Review

I only wear zero drop shoes with natural footbeds. Typically, I wear either Lems (Nine2Five, Boulder boots, or Primal Zens) or I’m running in Altras. When I first put these on I was extremely impressed by how comfortable they were. I love the minimalism in their design. They’re so comfortable it almost feels like you’re cheating. The water-resistant layer is a great addition but in my opinion, it works too well. Not only does it keep moisture out, it also keeps moisture in. In the warm weather it keeps your feet too warm.

Summary

Astral has come up with an excellent zero drop shoe that is one of the most comfortable shoes on the market.

Overall
4.8

Pros

  • Grip
  • Fit
  • Comfort
  • Zero drop
  • Water-resistant

Cons

  • Not breathable enough
  • Too much material on the top of the toe box

Fit/Comfort

They run a little bit big but are extremely comfortable. I do feel like they have a little too much material on the top of the toe box. When you tighten the laces it makes the toe box bunch up, which makes them look less attractive.

Look/Style

I love the look of these. Astral has done a great job of taking the look of the original Loyaks  and making them into an all weather shoe.

Features

These are loaded with super practical features. The most practical feature has to be the water-resistant layer. They’re wonderful on cool mornings when you have to walk through wet grass and don’t want to have wet socks all day. In addition to that, I absolutely love the zero-drop platform and natural toebox. Plus, the grip of the sole is unbelievable.

Weight/Packability

Super light and packable.

Function/Performance

These shoes perform great. They can be used for all kinds of activities, from the office to the trail.

Durability/Construction

They don’t seem to be the most durable. I’ve worn them every day for 3 weeks and it looks like one of the seams is starting to wear out. The sole and grip are super solid.

Sustainability

The upper is made from 100% recycled material without sacrificing quality. Astral is leading the way in sustainability.

The Final Word

Astral has come up with an excellent zero drop shoe that is one of the most comfortable shoes on the market.
