Ski season is upon us!! There’s nothing better than a ski movie to get excited for more flakes flying.
Zabardast
Zabardast follows a group of French (and one American) skiers who venture to Pakistan to freeride a 5000m peak. The video journal chronicles their trials and tribulations across glaciers, through snowstorms, and illness. The film is sure to stoke your sense of exploration of far away lands, as the narrative beautifully captures what exploratory skiing is all about.

Mind Over Mountain: On the Bugs to Rogers Traverse
Mind Over Mountain follows a group of three skiers on their journey to traverse the Bugaboo and Purcell Mountain ranges in Canada. The film focuses on the female group’s connectedness and teamwork through difficult weather, challenging conditions, and extremely heavy packs.

Wavy
YouTube ski phenom Norwegian Nikolai Schirmer travels to the northern fjords of Norway to freeride big mountain lines, by sailboat. Nikolai’s charisma and storytelling ability stand out, as there are so many layers to the movie other than just skiing. Polar plunges, sea sickness, and overhead powder shots weave in and out of Wavy. You’ll probably want to watch more Nikolai videos after watching it…and there’s even a sequel, Wavy 2!

Apocalypse Snow
Undeniably the greatest ski movie ever created.
Apocalypse Snow is a cult classic, endearingly quirky movie that features skiing, snow surfing, ski fighting?, and so much more! There’s few words, the beauty is in the action. And if you find this one entertaining, there’s two more to keep you going! We watch this one every year…so good!

Earthside
Earthside is both a heartfelt tribute to Hilaree Nelson and a beautiful narrative about a strong, badass group of ladies exploring steep couloirs of Baffin Island. While tear jerking at the end, the movie is inspiring and visually captivating, with Nelson, Emily Harrington, Christina Lusti, and Brette Harrington skiing incredibly aesthetic lines in dramatic country.

Lhotse
Lhotse chronicles Hilaree Nelson and Jim Morrison’s expedition to climb and ski the Lhotse Couloir on Lhotse, the world’s fourth tallest peak which sits right next to Mt. Everest. The film follows Nelson and Morrison’s lives as parents, their aspirations to ski the high mountains, and their Adventurer of the Year-winning adventure on a huge ski line.

Nevia
Nevia follows alpinist and freeride skier Sam Anthematten through a life journey in the mountains, chronicling his change in decision making as he becomes a father. It’s a refreshing change of pace from high adrenaline ski action films, getting a genuine and honest look at what it’s like in the life of a mountain athlete.

The Redline Traverse
The Redline Traverse chronicles a duo’s adventure along the ‘Redline’, an adventurous route across the High Sierra on skis. The film chronicles the history of the ‘Redline’, as well as this duo’s arduous adventure across the range. It blends old-timers talking about the Sierra with a new age of ski mountaineering.

The Polar Star
The Polar Star is a feature length film of Cody Townsend’s Fifty Project, featuring Vivian Bruchez. The film highlights Vivian and his expertise as a mountain savant, while also weaving in the true purpose of the Fifty Project. It’s a great selection from Cody’s wide offering of ski media, one that’s worth inviting friends over and some popcorn (or wine).

Circle of Madness
Circle of Madness follows freeriders Markus Eder and Victor de Le Rue to Alaska on steep spine lines. It’s a classic ski movie, with lots of shredding and little narrative…but it’s got some darn good skiing in it. Watch in awe as Eder and de Le Rue ski some truly unbelievable features.
