ProView – ENO Nomad Hammock Stand Review
Some campsites are perfect — shaded groves with two trees at just the right distance apart. Others, like the wide-open beaches of Bahía Concepción in Baja or the rocky hills of Colorado, are not (they are perfect in other ways!). After one too many hammock-less afternoons in treeless terrain, I finally tried the ENO Nomad Hammock Stand. Months later, it’s become one of my favorite comfort items for camping anywhere the trees aren’t cooperating.

Summary
The ENO Nomad Hammock Stand is a portable, freestanding system that lets you hang your hammock wherever you want — no trees required. The lightweight aluminum frame resists rust and corrosion and assembles easily without tools. Designed to work with most ENO hammocks, it’s an adaptable option for car camping, vanlife setups, or beach lounging when shade trees aren’t in reach.
Overall
4.7Pros
- Easy and fast setup — no tools needed
- Lightweight and stable once staked
- Compatible with most ENO hammocks
- Packs down small enough for trailers or car camping
Cons
- Must be staked to prevent tipping
- Pricey compared to fixed setups
Performance/Features
Setting up the Nomad is simple — the poles click together smoothly, and the hammock clips in quickly once the frame is built. Even without referencing instructions, setup is easy. The stand feels impressively stable once staked, which is a must for anyone planning to share their hammock with kids. Stake the stand!
On the beaches of Baja, groups of curious campground kids came by daily, climbing in to swing or nap. Without the stakes, though, momentum can tip the frame backward when swinging gets intense.

Durability/Construction
The Nomad feels solid and thoughtfully built. Its aluminum frame hits the sweet spot between weight and strength, holding up to months of exposure to salt air, white sand, and the dusty Colorado high desert. For long-term vanlife or trailer camping, this is a piece of gear that can live outside and take a beating. I also appreciate it comes with a carrying case to stow away when traveling.

Weight/Packability
While not ultralight, the Nomad is impressively portable for what it offers. It breaks down easily and stores compactly in its included carry bag, sliding the under storage of the trailer or a truck bed. Setup and teardown are both fast, making it easy to pull out for quick lounge sessions or move around camp to chase the shade. To move it, just have a buddy pick up the other side and walk together.

Who is the ENO Nomad Hammock Stand for?
The ENO Nomad Hammock Stand is for anyone who wants to hammock where there aren’t perfectly placed trees. Its packaging is larger, so if you’re going ultralight, it might not be the best choice. We travel with the stand all the time so the kids can play, and we can lounge!

The Final Word
The ENO Nomad Hammock Stand provides the freedom to hang anywhere — beach, desert, or backyard — without relying on trees. It’s strong, stable, and intuitive to use, though staking it down is essential for safety and balance. For campers, vanlifers, and families who want guaranteed hammock time wherever they roam, the Nomad is a perfect choice!
