ProView – Nite Ize Pet Round-Up

Back in October, I adopted my first dog! Her name is Joey and she is seriously adorable…okay, maybe I’m biased. But check her out.

Anyways…I’ve always had family dogs growing up but had never actually had to purchase any of the “dog accessories,” so this was a whole new world to me. We bought a few basic leashes and a very normal collar, so when I was asked to review NiteIze’s dog products I was really excited. I knew NiteIze put care and attention into the (human) products I’ve tried out and I came to learn their dog products are no exception. 

Huck ‘N Tuck GlowStreak Collapsible Thrower + LED Ball

I’m going to be totally honest with you…Joey is not super into playing fetch or chasing balls so I was a little worried about being able to give an honest review on this toy, but she ended up loving it! In fact, I think she has fully converted to a fetching dog because she will chase this ball forever. 

The texture of the ball is slightly soft, with a little give which Joey was definitely interested in. Additionally, it lights up! The lights are motion activated, so it’s super simple to use and you don’t have to worry about turning it off or wasting battery life. After 10 minutes of inactivity, it will turn off. 

The ball comes with an extendable thrower which I am super stoked about. It folds down to a foot long so it’s perfect for putting in a backpack, which is just not possible with a regular, long thrower.

Room for improvement: 

The thrower takes a little muscle to fold/collapse, but it’s not a hassle! And I guess my only negative on the ball is that when we played with it on the beach, it attracted sand, but what doesn’t on the beach?!

Joey’s thoughts: 

Tennis balls…boring. Soccer balls….boring. Frisbees….ehhh okay. NiteIze light up ball….OMG GIMME. I never knew an inanimate object could be so fun to chase! And I can really see it because it lights up!  

Raddog All-In-One Collar + Leash

Let me just start by saying that we are OBSESSED with this collar. We use it all the time on hikes or even just on a quick trip to the dog park. The collar has a built-in retractable leash housed within it, giving you easy access to a short leash when you need it.

On hikes, Joey is (surprisingly) well-behaved and we feel comfortable using the Raddog Collar to allow her to explore and roam around. This collar/leash combo lets us feel confident that if another hiker or dog is coming towards us, we can snag her in a few seconds and have control of her and not bother anyone. If your dog is not so trustworthy off leash, this collar is also awesome for the dog park or enclosed areas. It’s great to not have to deal with bringing a leash and carrying it around the entire time. This collar is so versatile, we could really use it all the time. 

Room for improvement: 

The only thing I’ve noticed is that the leash handle that extends out of the collar isn’t super easy to snag with gloves on. The loop is small, so you just have to be on your game!

Joey’s thoughts: 

Man…ever since my pals got me this collar, I’m free to roam when we walk up mountains and IT IS SO FUN TO RUN FULL SPEED UP A MOUNTAIN. When we see other humans coming, they always want to reign me in, but that’s okay. As long as I get to explore after!

Nitedog Rechargeable LED Leash & Collar

During those winter months when the sun has set by the time we’re home from work, this collar and leash are amazing for evening strolls with Joey. We do a lot of walks around our neighborhood and definitely want to be seen by cars and bikers. While using this collar and leash, not only are we the coolest kids on our block, but we really stand out and can be seen during the dark morning and night hours. 

You can really tell that NiteIze put a lot of attention to detail into both of these products. The leash has a really nice padded handle that makes it really comfortable to hold. The collar and leash look great without the lights turned on and can be used at any time of the day. Also, both items are rechargeable with a micro USB port. No fussing with batteries…so easy!

Room for improvement: 

The texture of the length of the leash (outside of the handle) isn’t great to tug or pull on. I wouldn’t recommend it for ‘strict’ walks where you’re training your dog to heal – I see this leash as meant more for a casual walk where your dog has ample slack in the leash and you’re mostly holding the handle. 

Joey’s thoughts:

Taking walks when it’s dark can be scary, but this leash and collar make me feel extra safe…and cool!

SpotLit XL Rechargeable Carabiner Light

Along with the LED collar and leash, the SpotLit XL helps us be seen on night walks and is also really fun. We have a fenced in backyard and we also love having Joey wear this at night in the backyard so we can see where she is. It lights up and has the option of fading in and out of all the colors of the rainbow, or just staying one color at a time. The extra large size really makes us visible in the dark and it’s great to be able to throw this on Joey’s collar when we’re heading out the door on a walk and need a quick extra light. It’s easy to attach to the dog’s collar and easy to turn on. An added bonus is that it’s rechargeable with the same micro USB port, making things so simple!

Room for improvement: 

Taking off the cover to get to the charging port was pretty difficult. Good that it’s secure, but I’d recommend using some sort of tool instead of your fingernails 🙂

I feel like a disco queen with this on and I don’t hate it

The Final Word 

Every NiteIze dog product we tried out was awesome and easy-to-use. Now that I have a taste of these innovative dog products, I don’t think I’ll ever turn back. So happy that my pup and I have everything we need to stay safe at night and be able to have fun!
